Mindful urban bamboo shelter
Designer: Seowon (June) Park
Category: spatial design, sensory design, design for health and wellbeing

The project addresses issues of agoraphobia (anxiety disorder) in high-load urban environments with the design of bamboo shelter located in Seoul in South Korea. Bamboo is a significant material in South Korean culture, believed to have beneficial effects on psychophysiological health. The shelter provides a refuge with multi-sensory triggers to alleviate the symptoms of anxiety. While addressing issues of mental health and wellbeing the project also uses sustainable materials.
