Making materials from food waste - BA (Hons) Design for Branded Spaces

Watch the film of the project

An experimental space to enable visitors to explore how food waste can be transformed into new materials. Visitors to IKEA’s head office in Oxford Street London are invited to take part in a multi-sensory experience where they can select biomaterials, take part in a sensory test and material-making process. The design of the interior space includes a lab like area for making and a display area. The project required an interdisciplinary approach, combining retail experience design with sensory and exhibition design. The project also emphasised sustainable practices and enhanced the visibility of IKEA’s circular system and brand identity.
